Mother-of-pearl is the iridescent inner layer of a shell, so the dial changes its sheen as the light moves. White is the most common, followed by green and black, with gold, champagne, pink, blue, turquoise and brown among the rest. About 1 in 10 also have stones set into the dial. The cases are silver-tone, gold-tone, two-tone or rose gold-tone. Every one comes on a stainless steel bracelet. About 6 in 10 cases are round; octagonal, square, cushion and tonneau cases make up the rest. About 7 in 10 are rated 3 ATM and the rest 5 ATM; neither rating is meant for swimming.
